Camp Usoni
Circle’s Summer Camp Overview

“My daughter has changed dramatically since being in the program. Even the neighbors and people from church have noticed a big change in her. She has definitely settled down in a lot of ways. I’m proud who she is becoming as a result of the program.”
“Thank you so much for teaching my son about God. He can’t get enough Bible. He wants to learn more of it. He quotes all kinds of Scripture and tells me ‘Mommy, we are never alone. God watches over us all the time.’ So, I really want to get him involved in church.”
Camp Usoni (oo-sony) is a full-day camp for kids in grades K through 6th. The word ‘usoni’ means ‘future’in Swahili. The camp’s mission is to prepare the children for a purposeful future, keeping the focus on God’s Son, Jesus Christ. The comments above are from two parents after their children were involved in Camp Usoni this past summer.
We offered a 6-week camp that ran from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM in the months of July and August. There are six components of the camp that included:
- Academic - reading, writing and math foundations are emphasized
- Spiritual - theme centered with weekly verse memorization
- Service & Community - exposure to serving opportunities in & around community
- Social/Interpersonal - manners, peacemaking and problem solving
- Cultural & Arts Enrichment - field trips, dance, keyboarding, mural painting, acrobatics
- Recreation - fun activities, pool time
COME AND VOLUNTEER!!
Camp Usoni may be over for this year, but the need for people to be involved in various ways continues through the program year through Circle4Success. The impact of your time will be evident in the children’s lives as well as your own. If you have a special skill or interest, let the director know ahead of time and we will incorporate that into your volunteer time.
