There goes the neighborhood!
We believe in long-term solutions to long-term problems. In the almost three decades since we opened our doors, we've worked and prayed for change in our neighborhood. And we've seen results-- both physical and spiritual. We have helped revive our neighborhood by:
Building indigenous leaders: All of our programs operate with the hope and intent to empower participants. We've sponsored college fairs, opened a computer lab, mentored teens, started a school, hired former clients, and much more, with the intent to build our neighborhood back up through the people who live there.
Opposing destructive forces: We have stood against the tide of drugs, gangs, prostitution and other evils through a comprehensive strategy that includes: restoring abandoned buildings, reaching out to perpetrators, and cooperating with government and police forces.
Making disciples: Through all of our programs, families and individuals have a chance to hear the good news about Jesus Christ. Many who have made a decision to follow Christ now attend the Rock Church.
Improving health care for families: When Circle started providing health care in Austin, the medical needs of the poor vastly outweighed the number of providers. Most health care providers had left Austin during the latter '70s. Since that time, Circle Family Care has been growing in the scope and variety of its care. Circle Family Care's Isaiah House saw 3,025 patients in the last year. Of that number, 45% are on public aid or Medicaire. Newly-rehabbed Isaiah House is staffed by some of the most compassionate and professional medical staff on the west side.
Improving appearance and housing conditions in our neighborhood: When we moved to our current facility, it was not the only building to have been abandoned. We not only restored this facility, but have partnered to rehab over 400 units of housing throughout our neighborhood. Most notable among those is the "Miracle on Parkside."
Helping men reclaim their lives: Head chaplain Lincoln Washington (now pastor of Rock Church) started a home for men in 1994 in response to the devastation he observed in families throughout our neighborhood. Since that time, many of these men have returned to their families and now serve in various capacities throughout the ministry.
Educating our "children of promise": Circle-Rock Preparatory School gives families an excellent local option for educating their children, nurturing their children with the best of kingdom-centered academics.
Giving the homeless a leg up: Eagle's Nest provides a clean, safe living environment and case management for families to get back on their feet.
