The "Wayzata ladies" from Wayzata, MN, are best known for their kitchen prowess, shown every year during our Harvest Festival. (This June was their 17th time cooking soul food for the 'hood!) But it seems that each year they find new ways to give beyond Harvest. Their church, Wayzata Ev. Free, became an Appleseed Partner in 2000. Last year, Wayzata volunteer Erna Johnson used her skills in library science to set up CRPS' first library. This year she and others logged in over 100 hours coding and labeling books.
But that wasn't enough for Erna. This year Erna started the "Peach Project." The Peach Project sold 200 crates of fresh, hand-picked Colorado peaches to Wayzata EFC members and friends. The money raised will go toward special projects at CRPS. This year the funds raised will go to our library. Erna wants to continue the Peach Project beyond this year. "This is a fundraiser my family used for another ministry, and their orders keep growing every year," says Erna. "Once people taste these peaches, they'll want to order more next time."
