Forty-five children from Circle/Rock left city streets for a camping adventure they will never forget. Kids Across America (KAA) is a non-profit Christian sports camp committed to reaching the inner-city youth of our nation with the love and power of Jesus Christ. Over 4,700 urban campers and leaders from over 80 cities in 35 states make their way to KAA every year. Located on the shore of Table Lake Rock in Golden, Missouri, the camp is divided into three age groups from 10-18 years old.
This is our third year at KAA, and the second year the Engle family spearheaded a tennis fundraiser to support our trip. Nearly half of the campers experienced their first trip to KAA. KAA uses a combination of sports, team competitions, and gospel presentations to draw the children into a dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ. Like Tree Tops, their obstacle course in the sky, the camp takes the children to higher levels of character and leadership, offering different levels of leadership training for return campers. Sixteen-year-old Lakendria Gibson became our first teen to attend leadership camp.
Our children came back with over 30 awards for sports aptitude, leadership, and character. Eleven-year-old Lynette Kelly and 15-year-old Jerryl Ewing returned with the camps highest award: the "I'm Third Award" for character and sacrifice.
